\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe idea for this photo series emerged after experiencing deeply impactful personal\nchallenges. To this day, I continue to reflect on my healing journey. Understanding the\ninterconnectedness of emotional, psychological, and physical systems, I wanted to\nexplore how, much like muscles that tear, heal, and grow stronger, our capacity to\novercome adversity builds resilience when tested by manageable levels of stress.\nModerate stress enhances performance, while overwhelming stress requires external\nsupport systems. The ultimate goal is thriving, supported by the recognition that we\nare not alone.

\nWhen women hold heavy objects, their minds and muscles unite to face the challenge.\nThis engagement reflects Bourdieu\u2019s (1990) concept of habitus, where the body serves\nas a site for personal transformation. Overcoming challenges leads to self-awareness\nand autonomy, with mastery facilitating greater ease, as Csikszentmihalyi (1990)\ndescribes in his concept of “flow”\u2014a state where skill and challenge align effortlessly.\nThis process leads women to discover their inherent mobility and autonomy, qualities\nthat adhere to the performance of gender. Women\u2019s strength is both physical and\npsychological, shaped by how they navigate challenges and assert their identities. The\ngoals set in this project, whether through personal practice or external support, drive\ngrowth and sensitivity toward others, fostering self-love and healing.

\nThe objects chosen by women represent their personal struggles, whether physical or\nemotional. The meaning we attach to objects transforms our relationship with them.\nThese objects become metaphors for the burdens women carry, and the physical act of\nholding them reveals both vulnerability and strength. Merleau-Ponty (1962) states that\nthe body is an active participant in shaping our reality, and the physical strain reflects\ndeeper psychological resilience. The process of facing challenges thus symbolizes\npersonal growth. Human flourishing comes from the ability to meet challenges in the\nmidst of adversity.

\nWomen come to realize their inherent strength and capacity to meet challenges. Their\nresilience, both physical and psychological, reveals their inner power and autonomy.
